Letter To The Sentinel: --Sunday, June 18, 1995 --Sentinel,
With all the budget cuts for youth programs and tuition increases for college, there is one organization that is working hard to ease the problem . . . Omega Nu of Santa Cruz. These women volunteer their time to the youth of this county, my son for one. He is one of this year's Omega Nu college recipients! They not only gave a total of $25,000 in scholarships to our local high schools, but also distributed almost $24,000 to local charities, youth programs and individuals this year. I would like to thank Omega Nu for their contribution to community, and to my son's future. Their involvement has made a difference in so many lives! So when you see the Omega Nu rummage sale going on in October, and those cute Ducky Derby signs in April, please remember whom they are working for ... our children!

One recipient wrote back: "I don't know that I could have done it without your help. We may not always write to you to tell you how much your help meant to us, nevertheless, you should take enormous pride in knowing that with or without recognition, you can do no greater service to your society than to contribute to the education of its children. In hearing from Omega Nu after all these years, it brought to mind that one is never quite as generous in appreciating gifts as others are in giving then. Once again, my deepest gratitude to all of you".

I hope that all is well in Santa Cruz and hopefully the weather is a little brighter than here in San Francisco. School is fantastic. I have had the opportunity to meet some of the neatest people and some of the most interesting professors. I am currently taking 16 units, which is a heavy workload, but, it is so much fun that I don't even realize actually how hard it is.

I really want to express my gratitude to the whole committee for supporting not only me in my pursuit for higher education but in fact all of the students that your organization touches. We as students don't really realize until we are in college just how much organizations such as Omega Nu help students such as myself who with out Omega Nu and Financial Aid would not be able to be where I am today. With cost of schooling, books living, and eating cost being so high and coming from a single parent household, I would not be able to attend college. I really want the entire committee to know, on behalf of all of the students you touch, you are giving us the opportunity to go somewhere and be somebody in life and I thank you! Dear Omega Nu Members,
Here is my Verification for my Spring Semester of classes. I will be graduating on May 31, 2003 and I couldn't be more excited. This last year of college has gone by so fast and everything has gone well. I have done excellent in classes and clinics and have had many job offers from various facilities. It’s going to be a difficult decision on where I would like to work.

Once again I want to extend my gratitude to your organization for providing me with funding for my education. Easing my money "woes" makes studying a lot easier and less stressful. The Omega Nu Scholarship opportunities are so wonderful for college bound young people, and I am very honored to have been chosen as a recipient.
